Topic Categories are Very Limited and Not Helpful

Can we expand this list with more categories? Whenever I post a topic if it’s not related to the Revit API I have no idea what to select. What about just python help? Or error messages? Performance optimization? Tutorials?

Ask and you shall receive
But let’s make a consistent list here before implementing, please:

Just want to check my understanding on the current categories. I’m not quite sure how the double categories work (like Tool > x) . It seems like the second is a subset of the main one. Maybe some of the additions need to be subcategories?

Anyway, here is the existing categories:
>Tools
“Discuss all things related to the pyRevit Tools (pyRevit ribbon in Revit UI)”

Just built-in tools.

>Tools >Showcase
“Share code snippets, tools or extension that you think may be useful for others (consider making a PR creating a new tool or a new module definition)”

Seems weird to have showcase under tools as the main categories would exclude things not in the built-in pyRevit tab.

>Tools >Hackathon - Preflight Checks 2024
"This is where you throw in all your question during the preflight checks hackathon 2024
Feel free to showcase your entry or ask for inspiration."

I don’t know how these forums work but this seems like it should be a temporary categories and if possible maybe things tagged with this should be migrated to something like “Past Hackathons” or “Past Events”.

>Revit API
“Anything related to the Revit API”

Straight forward category. I have no comments.

>Runtime
“Discussions related to the pyRevit runtime, load process, and other topics that are about pyRevit framework itself and not the tools”

Should the description also mention something about installation help? Would this be a good category for help with anti-virus software woes?

>Command Line Interface (CLI)
“Discuss all things related to the pyRevit Command Line Interface (CLI)”

Straight forward category. I have no comments.

>Collective
“All the discussions about pyRevit as a community, and how we can support each other and the industry better”

Straight forward category. I have no comments.

>Site Feedback
“Discussion about this site, its organization, how it works, and how we can improve it.”

Straight forward category. I have no comments.

>Jobs
“Hi y’all, I created a new Jobs category for new opportunities of fulltime gigs or side projects looking for extra hands and brains.”

Straight forward category. I have no comments.

Here’s my suggested categories:

>Python
“Discuss all things related to the Python coding.”

I can’t be the only person here new to coding in general, right?

>Hooks
“Discuss all things related to the hooks in pyRevit.”

Seems like specific enough to have it’s own category.

>Optimization
“Discuss all things related to optimizing code.”

Maybe a subcategory of Python?

>Errors
“Discuss all things related to error messages.”

Maybe a subcategory of Python?
