Hi, can someone tell me which version of pyRevit will install and function with Revit version 2026.4?
I am going to try v5.1.0 . I will report back if that works.
Why not use the latest one?
Pyrevit has been working with Revit 2026 for the last 2 years or so
Thanks, I did try the latest. But after my IT department installed it. It didn’t load. I am hoping I can try this earlier version in next few days and I will report back.
We are also rolling out a few DiRoots plugins and so that might have been an issue.
A few weeks ago I installed pyRevit for Revit 2024 but then shortly after that we upgraded to Revit 2026. I did uninstall pyRevit for 2024 before trying to install it for Revit 2026. At the moment for both my Revit versions I don’t have pyRevit.
I am responsible at my company for testing out plugins that we will then roll out to the wider team.
6.4.0 works perfectly well here, but since 6.5.1 I have revit crashes (downgrading resolves all the stability issues of revit)
It could come from loading of certain extensions more than the core of pyrevit, but for the moment, I stay with the 6.4.
Thanks, yes that version seems to work for me too.
Could you provide crash reports or anything useful on github? For me 6.5.3 is stable on 2026.
I had one version of Revit(2024). I installed pyRevit 4.8.14.24016 for Revit 2024 and it worked.
Then at my company we rolled out Revit 2026.4. I tried installing the latest version of pyRevit for that but I had not yet uninstalled pyRevit 4.8.14.24016. So pyRevit didn’t load for 2026.4 Revit.
Then I got IT to uninstall pyRevit completely and try again installing the latest version of pyRevit for Revit 2026.4. It didn’t load at all. Maybe there was not a restart inbetween.
Then I created this forum post. I have just this morning got IT to install version 6.4.0 and it is working fine. I am testing it now.
I didn’t manage to save any error logs. But I think this image is from when I tried to run the latest version of pyRevit on Revit 2024.
I am sorry I can’t be more helpful than that. I have been asked by my company to investigate Revit plugins. That we can rollout to the wider Team but I can’t take up much more of the IT department’s time. So I can’t really ask them to try the latest version again, sorry. I will contact my IT department again. Maybe they can try the latest version of pyRevit on a different Team members PC. If they do that I will report back.
pyRevit version v6.4.0 seems to work well for both Revit 2026.4 and Revit 2024.3.
So I will be recommending v6.4.0 for the roll out for my colleagues.
Perhaps later, if we ever catch up with Revit we can also catch up for pyRevit.
Thanks for the help!
Edit: Not all pyRevit tools work in Revit 2024.3. But that is to be expected given improvements with Revit API when Autodesk upgrade the versions.
Could you share which tools do not work in 2024? Just to double check if that has been resolved in 6.5.x or not. pyRevit has good compat layer which should enable most tools run fine from 2022-2027, and less fine for versions prior to that.
I will try test them now on Revit version 2024.3 - pyRevit v6.4.0 -
Panel - Toggles - All work apart from can’t get ‘Show View Range’ to function
Panel - Selection - Pick 2D/3D work. Pick by Parameter does not seem to work. Isolate works. Copy State/Paste State work. Not sure MRead/Memory.
Panel - Analysis - Color splaher works and creates legend. Analyse - In place families works. Inspect - Find referencing sheets works. Lines per view counter works.
Panel - Modify - Match Properties Works. Make Pattern Works.
Renumber walls doesn’t work.
Panel Modify - 3D - All seem to work but measure 3D doesn’t copy to clipboard.
Panel - Drawing set - Sheets List Titleblock works. Batch Create Sheets works. Copy Viewports works. - Revisions can’t test we don’t use them. List Legends on Sheets works. Schedule exports to csv fine. Views create Parallel Section does not seem to work when selecting a wall. Print Sheets works but we use DiRoots ProSheets for this because we have lots of custom parameters.
Panel - Project - Preflight checks model check works. Audit All works. Get RVT Info works. Can’t test Team, we don’t use Workshared very often. Family Quick Check works. List links and export images work. Wipe unused filters and unused view templates work.
TAB - pyRevit Budles Creator Works great.
Sorry I can’t test everything. I would say 80 to 90 percent works just fine. We will be rolling out this version to our wider CAD Tech team. I will likely in the next few weeks be preparing a presentation on it’s features to get everyone up to speed with using it here at WAB.
