pyRevit prevents Revit from launching

My company’s BIM manager needs pyRevit in his environment. However, once I installed pyRevit on his machine, he was unable to open Revit 2024, 2025, or 2026. The application would attempt to open, but crash during startup. The issue persists across boots. We update Revit for all devices in the firm twice anually, putting him on a different version of Revit is not really an option. Uninstalling pyRevit resulted in Revit working normally again immediately. Anyone know what might be causing this?

POTENTIALLY USEFUL INFORMATION:

Revit 2024: 24.3.30.11
Revit 2025: 25.4.20.11
Revit 2026: 26.2.0.20
pyRevit: 6.4.0
OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2 (x64)
Revit install: Default location, local disk C
Plugins: Kobi Toolkit, Enscape, Revolution Design Keynote Manager

Did you try to install just to the user profile instead of the C program data?

It looks like it installs to the user profile by default. I tried manually changing the install location to Program Files, and Revit launches, but pyRevit does not load.

Installed to User\AppData → Revit does not open
Installed to Program Files → pyRevit does not load

Do you have Sentinel One security software running on the machine? If so, it frequently messes with pyRevit and causes Revit to crash on startup. This happened to me until I had IT create exceptions. This is reportedly a common issue with many posters on this forum.

We do have SentinelOne, I’ve opened a ticket with external support to look into this.
