Move Dependent Views to another Parent View umbrella?

We currently have a project that got split into 2 phases and something we are discussing is

  • Option 1 - Duplicating Parent Views and recreating the necessary Dependent Views
  • Option 2 - Converting Dependent Views to Independent and no longer having them as part of a Parent View or
  • Option 3 - See if there is a way we can move certain dependent views to a new Parent view

While option 2 seems to be the only way we know as of right now, we would like to option 3. From what I currently know, the ParentViewID is a read-only parameter so there’s no way to modify it to be a new one, at least to my knowledge.

i came across callout parent view reference but nothing that relates to dependent views

if anyone has any ideas or knows if this is possible, that would be super helpful.

I have moved detail callouts to new host views by selecting all detail items (pyRevit select detail items) in the view and then also selecting the crop border, then copy and paste in place into the new host view. This may be a way to copy the dependent views to a new parent, and then you can delete the redundant ones. I didn’t have enough to do to make scripting necessary so can’t offer any code.
