I wanted to build an irregular section box tool for Revit which will allow a section box to be in irregular shape unlike traditional square. The section box boundaries will also be visible in plan. An example shown below in the link. I am looking forward for guidance and suggestions from the community.
Unfortunately, I don’t think it is possible via the API, at least with my knowledge of Revit.DB library, the view3d bounding box requires a “Three Dimensional Rectangular”
Yep. Not happening with section boxes. Even hacking together anll the power Revit has, I don’t think it can be done. Only tool that is even closer is displaced elements. You could possibly run things through Rhink or sketchup. But that’s a heavy lift.
If it is just for visualization, I’d export to 3d Studio or Navisworks that have tools that can accomplish what you’re after. (Or IFC to Archicad.)
